Photography has penetrated all aspects of life. It was considered an art before it has become an integral and vital tool of modern dental practice. Dental photography continues to evolve and grow because it enhances assessment, diagnosis and management of the majority of patients resulting in improved delivery of care. Although primarily for documentation, dental photographs may also be used for education, communication with patients, the dental team and colleagues. It would be hard to imagine a modern dental setting without using dental photography. There are now many cameras, lenses and devices that can deliver desired results but advances in technology though has brought more complexity to our decision making process. I will talk about problems I encountered before I was able to create my own workflow before producing desired results, the gear I usually use, some concepts in clinical photography that will suit Philippine dentists. This lecture hopes to guide you in this decision making process that will satisfy your needs and preferences.

It is time to learn how to document cases well. Documenting cases is an important aspect in a dental practice. This is often a neglected subject in dentistry. But actually, is the most essential in the art of diagnosing and treatment planning any dental case. Aside from that, it is an educating tool for communication with your patient for thorough presentation of their concern and how you will be able to resolve their dental issues. The dentist should be committed to acquiring proper skills and technique, good and reliable equipment, teach staff good teamwork and have utmost patience to continue learning and upgrading the process of documentation.
